How To Enjoy "Mindful" Fall Moments

Hi Everyone!  I hope that you had a great weekend!  I'd  like to share my personal "mindful" fall  moment with you.  Yesterday, I was in  wonderful company and had the blessing of enjoying nature. These pictures best describe the appreciation that I experienced  for my surroundings and for the artisans that shared their work.  We also had the opportunity to spend some time at a horse farm and I absolutely loved it ! I had  moments that filled my heart with such joy simply by spending time with the people that  I love and embracing the activites of the day.  We  had an amazing time!  REMINDER: It's important to put more days of laughter and relaxation into our lives and to focus on the moment!  This type of day brings forth our inner child. I don't care how old you are because YES  you do have an inner child that always wants to come out and play! This doesn't mean that you are "childish"  instead you  become child-like.  There is a huge difference between the two.  On this trip, the horse farm reminded me of the passion that I once had for horses.  In 'younger" days, I had the blessing of riding horses every day after school and participated in  horse shows.  All those memories just flooded back into my mind and  for that  moment I was back in time.  Although my school days are long gone - the memories linger on in my mind  and it's days like this that gently remind me on how precious our moments truly are. We  also walked a trail where the silence was so inviting.  In fact, it almost called for it because we suddenly found ourselves silent as we walked this path and within our own mental space. It's almost as if we didn't  want to miss one ounce of the serenity being  offered by our surroundings.  It was beautiful!  You would think that it was the first time that we had ever witnessed nature!   The reason being is that we were living the moment"  Everything seems new when in the moment! .Look at the picture of the  trees and that amazing sky that we walked under.  Our new topic has been living a 'mindful" life and a day like this can  jump start this practice because you can't help but live in the moment!  None of us thought of work, worries nor complained about anything. We simply absorbed the moments and just had fun!   Enjoy the fall by taking time to become "mindful" of the moments that it offers you. Take a drive and enjoy an old fashion picnic with someone special and watch how your physiology begins to change. You will recharge your energy and the feeling "sticks" to you  like glue. The fall is a time of renewal and it offers you tranquility. Enjoy the changes in nature as it prepares for the winter months.  Take some take to create your own memories during this fall season. Thank you for spending this time with me.  As always, should you have any questions, comments or prayer requests, feel free to email us.  To place an order contact, The Rosary Artisan Studio

Job 12:7‑10
But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. How To Live A Mindful Life

What's that?!  It means that you are focusing your attention on your "now" moments.  Instead of just "going with the flow" you are paying attention to what is  happening at this very moment. For example, are you listening to me or reading this blog as you multitask?  We live in a culture where we haven't finished one task when we are off to another.  I know that feeling because it creeps up on me too but with "mindful" thinking you are able to ground yourself in the moment again. Friends, this takes practice but you feel the difference each time you apply "mindfulness" throughout your day.  Being mindful with practice becomes a new way of life as an adult.  You feel so good that you enter into your, "aha" moment!  Did you know that we are born with  "mindfulness" and you can see it in children everyday.  For example, a baby will focus complete attention on their little toes for hours-they are completely immersed in the moment.  You have probably heard about mindfulness connected to Eastern Philosophy however we as Catholics have been practicing mindfulness through our prayer of the Rosary. You have read on this blog that when praying the Rosary we meditate on the life of Jesus.  I have also mentioned that other thoughts will enter our minds when praying to gently push them aside and bring your attention back into your meditation.   Many times throughout this blog you have read that praying the Rosary sets the tone of the day for you.  It brings a peaceful feeling and in turn helps you to remain clam and clear thinking throughout your day. There  has been a substantial amount of research  confirming the benefits of mindfulness. In fact, it has been recognized in Psychology as a relaxation tool that  helps in stress management, lowering blood pressure and helping in keeping our minds sharp. My dears, we need to be doing this more often!  As we continue to practice "mindfulness" we will incorporate it in our eating habits, recreation, work life, and spiritual life. This is a good thing folks and it's great for our total well-being. Mindfulness insists that we take a step or two back before reacting.  It reminds us to just be still in the moment before making quick decisions that may not be necessarily good for us. When you give your undivided attention to the moment you must also leave all judgement behind.  Yup!  That's hard! For example, if you are speaking with someone "in the moment" don't allow judgement to creep in.  We all live within our "own" truth so putting aside our thoughts can be hard but like everything it just takes practice. We all fall and slip but just get back up and try again.  I am on this same journey as you to be a  better person each day.  I totally "want to expand my knowledge of " mindfulness" to include this concept in my way of living.  Okay, so here is an "aha" moment for you,_If we are aware of our thoughts within the moment then we are clearly aware of our actions. In other words, we will make better choices! We are definitely creatures of habit so we go into  "auto-pilot"   throughout our day and here lies the problem to some of our current situations. We are not clear thinking beings instead we are too busy thinking about a  million other to be done. Stop!  Just stop and be still throughout the day! Take a moment to ground yourself again. Some of you pray your Rosary throughout the day so take this time to ground yourself and be" mindful" during your meditation of the Rosary.  It will bring peace to you and get you back into your quiet mental space. I find that prayer relaxes me and promotes clarity in my mind.

Step by Step mindfulness:

Begin practicing "mindfulness" first thing in the morning. Why? Because it sets the tone for the day. Close your eyes and  take three slow cleansing breaths to your comfort level -  if you would like. With your eyes still closed just notice the pattern of your breathing-focus only on your breathing. If any thoughts come to mind gently brush them aside and remain focused on your breathing pattern.  Do this for a moment or two and increase the moments each day.
You have set your mind to "mindfulness"  praying of the Rosary.  I will join you in the following:  I will pray my Rosary throughout the day too.  I will begin with the first  mystery to set the tone of the day and say the rest throughout the day.  Make sure that you stay in "news fast" mode until later throughout your day. Catch up with world and local news somewhere in between your day.  Please don't listen to the news first thing in the morning nor allow it to be the last you read or hear before going to sleep. All of you know, that I really believe laughter in the morning is great!  So you have permission to multitask as you get ready for the day.  Set up your TV, Kindle, Smartphone without commercials -with  a wholesome funny show.  Again, I know that it sounds "nerdy" or Ms. Pollyanna of me but we are in "training". We want to train our minds to leave our homes with  peaceful and happy thoughts.  Yes, for the time being we will use "technology to help us jump start mornings too. Our topic this last week as been on  RE-designing one's life or starting over and a very important contribution is being in a good mindset. It  is imperative to your success when in transition!  Starting over or re-designing ones life means that you are in transition coming from physical and mental space to another.  We are all  in transition  in one way or another.  The one thing that you can be certain of is that there will always be changes. Changes in the world and in your life.   There is this supernatural positive energy in life because God included that in his plan for us. We choose to either accept or decline this gift. God uses our time in transition to prepare our hearts for gifts that belong to us. It may feel at times as if we are walking in a spiritual desert and just don't know what to do. Friends, allow God  to guide you out through prayer and meditation. The best way to empower yourself is to immediately teach others that which you have learned and as a result has enriched your life. I invite you to explore this concept of "mindful" living and join me in my quest to further expand our knowledge in this way of living.  As always, I invite your questions, thoughts or prayer requests-simply email or call us.  Everything is confidential unless you give us permission to share your thoughts with others on this blog.

It is my hope that you feel blessed each time you visit this blog.
May this day offer you just what you need in each unfolding moment. God Bless You

Happy Birthday New Year!

Take a birthday break of all, thanks so much for your calls. I really enjoyed hearing your messages. You are so sweet and you made my day that more special. Thanks again! You are simply the best! Thank you---xoxoxo

Plan a birthday break and escape for the day.  Do something special for yourself.  This is the best time to plan out your new year. What things do you want to accomplish by your next birthday?  Write them down or place them on your vision board. I know that it can be hard getting away from work so plan it  in advance so you have no excuses as to not take a- birthday- day. You get to be utterly selfish and say, "today is all about me". Celebrate your life and express your gratitude to God.  Pray a Rosary for yourself.  Talk to God and set goals for a brand new year in your life. Expect that this year will be better than the last.  Your honor God by getting wiser, and being the best "you" with each passing birthday.  As you know, the years keep marching on but it is our job to cherish and welcome each stage of our life.  Birthday's are a great time to make amends and put "sour" feelings away for good.  Leave the past behind and keep moving forward with peace in your heart.  It is my hope that you feel blessed each time you visit this blog.

May this day offer you just what you need in each unfolding moment

The Simple Things In Life

Enjoy the simple things in life..

Fall 2013-My Simple Little Garden

It's no secret--at least around my neighborhood-that I love my little garden.  My flowers sit outside my front door.  Why?  Because this is the simple beauty that I want to see as I head out my door to a new day.  I love watching nature unfold and to see my flowers in the morning makes me happy. It's as simple as that.  Something that's not a big deal bringing joy to me and my family.I have a friend who has three dogs and loves to start out the day on a walk path with them.  This sets the tone of the day for her. These things are so simple but  yet so grand in our lives.  We are usually in such a hurry that we really do forget "to smell the roses" along the way.   When's the last time that you took a walk in the park or just relaxed reading a good book?  These simple little pleasures are the things that ground us and allow us to feel blessed. God offers you these blessings through the simple things around you.  Pay attention to those things that really make you happy and make time for them today.   Remember it's the simple things that make us feel alive. These are God's blessings just for you.

Have you Unwrapped God's Gift To You Yet? 1 Peter 4:10

English Standard Version
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

Make your Gifts Produce Fruit for God's Kingdom. We are all born with a special "something" that can bring peace to another soul.  God distributes his gifts and expects us to use them here on our pilgrimage and he wants us to be responsible with our talents. Use them to reach your highest human potential and to empower another. Are you wasting your talents? Have you even unwrapped your gift yet?  God made us all unique and no two of us are the same.  What you bring to the table of life matters and counts in serving humanity. Using our Gifts helps us to understand ourselves and how we fit into God's Kingdom.  Friends, we only have a small window of time to use our gifts to  save another soul.  Don't let fear keep you still because doing nothing with your talents does not honor God.  You are working for God's kingdom in sharing your gifts. Are you able to motivate others through your words? Do you enjoy music? What is your gift? Don't keep those gifts to yourself-share them and they will produce fruit in God's kingdom.
It is my hope that you feel blessed each time you visit this blog.
May this day offer you just what you need in each unfolding moment.

The Power Of The Avocado Mask

This is a re-print of a past- post and I have added more information.

DRY SKIN IN THE SUMMER? Protect your skin from winter dryness.

Dry skin -anytime- is no fun especially in the summer. The itching and flaking doesn't make for a happy summer in the sun.  First of all, you MUST always use a sunscreen.  We addressed sunscreen in our May Blog posts so check it out. The greatest ingredients for your skin are found in your own cupboard.  Let me share with you what you can do to alleviate the discomfort of dry skin by using the avocado.  Personally, I just love eating avocado!  The Avocado oil is an excellent source of the following vitamins:  A,D,E, B vitamins and amino acids (building blocks of protein). The oil from an avocado is a natural way to rejuvenating your skin.  Listen up ladies! This  amazing oil when applied really gets to work by penetrating deep into your skin.  What does this mean to your skin?  An activation of more collagen production which means  younger and healthier looking skin. Yippee!  I'm all for looking younger!  Yes ladies, as we age our collagen levels begin to decline which means wrinkles and sagging skin. Need I say more?  Wait! it doesn't end with collagen.  It brings relief from sun damage by the deep moisture it brings to your skin.  Some people swear it has alleviated their eczema.  Friends, the list goes on with benefits derived from the amazing avocado.  Okay, so now you know that it's good for you, now what?  You are going to make your super- easy, effective and economical mask.  Just as good as if you went to a SPA.
Step one:        Preferably use a mortar or glass bowl to mash up one-half ORGANIC avocado. By the way, the reason for a glass bowl because plastic releases toxins into your mixture. Glass also doesn't affect the mixture by any other oils you are adding.  I do not recommend plastic for mixing or storing your product regardless if it's BPA free or not. okay?

Step Two:      Add one-half teaspoon of ORGANIC Jojoba oil and blend in with avocado. Quick note about Jojoba:  It's a waxy liquid that mimics your very own skin sebum. Don't worry it won't clog your pores nor give you that yucky greasy feeling.  Your skin soaks it up like a sponge which helps minimize lines and wrinkles.
Jojoba oil creates a protective film that seals in the moisture that your dry skin is so craving. By the way, excellent for your hair while drying it.  Dab on some to your split-ends.

Step Three:  Place the mixture on the side  -covered-  while you take a shower to open up your pores and prepare the skin for the mask.   Suggestion:  Cleanse your face and gently exfoiliate your skin prior to the shower.  In the shower, you are simply steaming your face now.  Don't apply anything else.

Step Four:  Place the mixture on your face- little at a time.  Yes, it is messy so don't wear your fancy robe. (:

Step Five:  Option:  You can place a warm hand towel on your face or you can just leave it on your skin without a hand towel.   Now, relax for 10-15 minutes--oh I almost forgot!  Optional:  go ahead refresh and rejeuvante your eyes by placing slices of ORGANIC cucumbers over your eyes.

Step Six:    Begin to gently remove mask with hand towel or use the one you already have on your face.  Splash cold water ---not ice cold---on your face to close up the pores.

You now have a gorgoeus glow and smooth skin!  Do this treatment at least once a week.  Winter: as much as needed.

Smiles and hugs,
Your Rosary Maker

Great Skin Care On A Budget!

This post appeared in June 2013.  I have added some more details for you.

PURE VEGETABLE GLYCERIN as a facial moisturizer?

Hi Everyone!  As you know, the topics we post are based on you -the reader.  A great deal of interest has sparked on organic and natural skincare.  First of all, should you have any medical  concerns or questions you should always consult with your healthcare professional.  Each individual responds differently to products regardless whether organic or not.   This blog is intended to offer suggestions and you should check with your doctor first if you have a medical condition or have any questions.

Okay, let's talk PURE vegetable Glycerin.  Glycerin is a humectant and it is a clear-colored liquid. What's a humectant?  It simply means that it absorbs water from the air and brings moisture to your skin. This allows for your skin to remain super-soft and hydrated.  It is very important that you purchase PURE vegetable glycerin by your local vitamin store or whole foods. The product is very inexpensive  depending on store but normally around $5.50.  This will last you a long time because you only need a tiny bit and it has a lengthy shelf life.  If you are sensitive to smells-not to worry-it is completely odorless and won't clog your pores. This is a very thick and sticky substance and I like to dilute it with Rosewater.  Okay, so how do you use this on your face?
--First time use try it at night on one side of your face and  in small amounts. Make sure that you are not sensitive to it in anyway.  AVOID eye area completely. Okay?

If you can pour some of the glycerin in a small glass bottle with dropper (cobalt) that would make it easier to use.

Place two drops of Glycerin in a little dish and three drops of rose water or regular water.  Gently mix and apply with a cotton. Depending on your skin-you may feel a slight warmth to your skin but if you find uncomfortable then rinse it off.

You may prefer to simply (like I do) spritz your face with rose or regular water first and then apply a tiny amount of glycerin.  The warmth to your face is not harmful but if you are uncomfortable then rinse it off. You can use it under your make up and for me it temporarily shrinks my deep laugh lines (don't tell). Vegetable Glycerin is hypoallergenic and is antibacterial making it great for acne prone skin. Some people use it on their hair and love it.  Personally, I have never tried it on my hair but intend to and will share the results with you. By the way, do not use Glycerin after coloring your hair. Color processed hair use with caution.  Can be drying and contribute to frizzy hair. Use it at the ends before a wash to help minimize split ends. There you have it! Another inexpensive way to take care of the skin that the good lord gave you. If you have any questions about this post or anything on this blog feel free to email us at  We love hearing from you!

Starting Over-Part 3
Formerly- The Crystal Cathedral
This was the final segment of our "Starting Over" series. These were suggestions on how to get started on rebuilding your life. I summarized the topics covered to serve as a gentle reminder to begin your journey.

I also shared some information regarding the former Crystal Cathedral and the Schuller Family.
New Name: Christ Cathedral
Please join me in prayer for
Rev. Robert H. Schuller who was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer this month. We pray for Dr. Schuller and his entire family.

Friends, Here is the link to the song that I spoke about:

Re-creating your story-Part 2 starting over it's important to create a plan.  Yup! It's pen to paper time.  Just as you plan a vacation with such great care and detail so should you plan your life! In this segment, I summarized what has been covered  on the recording above and have now introduced the importance of removing "toxic" people in your life. Oh, I almost forgot, I mentioned the power in laughing first thing in the morning! Laughter releases all these "feel good" chemicals within your body and mind.   These chemicals will surely help in setting the tone for a great and productive day!

Starting over is a HUGE job! In fact, I'm telling you that it will be one of the hardest things that you will need to do in your life. The hard part is not knowing where on earth to start.  I'm here to tell you that it all starts with believing in yourself.  You must believe that you can fix your life or you will remain stuck in your bad situation.
 Matthew 9:29
Then he touched their eyes and said, "Because of your faith, it will happen."

Re-inventing yourself or starting over calls for step by step changes on a -consistent-daily basis. It is my hope that the contents on this blog may help you in re-designing a new way of life.

Many Blessings,
Your Rosary maker

Starting Over

     When starting over:
Remember that God is the greatest re-builder of lives.  He is walking by your side and won't let you fall BUT you need to do your part too.

James 2:14-17

Faith Without Works Is Dead

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Organize your surrounding:  Begin to de-clutter your space.  Get rid of things that you no longer utilize. This puts you in an organized state of mind.  You make room for the "new" to enter your life.

Sell vintage pieces on Ebay or Craigs list
Give away gently used items or give away
Arrange special pick up for larger items that no longer work .
Envelope System
Get your finances in order:  Use the envelope system!  Write down financial  responsibility on each    envelope such as electric gas, show, etc.  Don't forget to pay yourself first!
PRAY    PRAY   PRAY  Prayer is powerful and it will help you put things in prospective.  Always start prayer by expressing gratitude. Do not complain about what you DON'T have because you simply attract more of the same to you.  Focus on what you want.

Take care of yourself:  Seek out services to assist you during your transition.

You change your life in the small steps that you take.  All you do is cumulative and you can rebuild your life!

Smiles and hugs.

How to pray the Rosary-step by step -Joyful mysteries

The First Joyful Mystery – The Annunciation
The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation
The Third Joyful Mystery – The Nativity
The Fourth Joyful Mystery – The Presentation
The Fifth Joyful Mystery – The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

     Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and  life  ever lasting.                                                                                                          AMEN
Our Father
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

  Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Let Us Pray

O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of everlasting life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The word rosary comes from Latin and means a garland of roses, the rose being one of the flowers used to symbolize the Virgin Mary. If you were to ask what object is most emblematic of Catholics,
people would probably say, "The rosary, of course." .
Anyone can say the rosary, and you don't have to be catholic.  The Rosary is a form of prayer—it is a meditative prayer

The rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary. It consists of a set number of specific prayers.
You can find the prayers on this page.

Prayer of a Rosary Maker
Thank you loving Mother for this precious gift, the rosary.
Guide my hands and my heart as I fashion these beads to be used in your honor to praise thy Son. Let each bead be filled with love and patience; let love pass through my fingers to unknown hands; and let patience prevail where prayers may seem unanswered. Teach me that I do this task only through the merits of your divine Son, for without him I can accomplish nothing. Let my numbers be known only to you and to Him. I offer this for the greater glory of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

What are two of your favorite colors?  Did you  know that there is such a thing as color psychology?  Generally used for marketing purposes but studies have proven that color does affect our mood. I still love gold but in the last year I have been drawn to the orange family.  What about you?  Which colors "call" to you? Let's investigate their meanings:

ORANGE:        Stimulates the creative side of you and mental activity. "Orange" personalities love helping people.  They are giving and love to socialize.  Does not want to be tied down.  Enjoys being a free spirit. Color of  wealth. People who love the color orange are enthusiastic and alive. "Oranges" are picky with whom they associate with as they are positive people.  wow!  sure glad that I'm an orange!

GOLD:             As you imagined the color gold is the sign of success!  People who love "Gold" illuminate and encourage others  People love being around a gold person . Gold are quite spiritual beings who stay true to their journey.  Gold people have a positive energy about them and are passionate in their undertakings.  They can be a little hot headed if they sense injustice towards others or themselves.

GREEN           Ah -calming, Symbolizing renewal, and peaceful.  Green people are generally gentle and sincere. Of course, they care about their environment and community. Lucky are you if you have a green in your life.  They are truly caring people. Green is excellent for your well-being.

This is just an example of what is referred to as color psychology.  Whether this applies to you or not this makes for interesting reading.  I certainly beleive that colors affect us and that we are drawn to some more than others. It's well worth your time in researching this subject.
